Syrus Ward woke up to a weight on his chest, and an incessant jabbing at his face. It was odd enough to wake up the day after he’d planned to take his life, but even stranger was the creature now sitting on top of his chest. Then it spoke.

At seemingly the worst possible moment, Syrus had been entangled into the world of hosts, elevated humans with powerful familiars called synthirs. Thanks to his attempt earlier, his synthir, Umbria, knows very little of what she she’s supposed to, except for the fact that her life is now dependent on his. Now stuck being alive, and missing vital information about what’s going on, both of them will be introduced to a new reality with elemental powers, teleportation, and the political games of a super powered megalomaniac. All while Syrus struggles to cope with violent and dark mental breaks.
